Our Creative Journey
The Geaux Create Awards is the visionary brainchild of Marian Gbaiwon, founder of Geaux Create Studios, Baton Rouge’s premier content creation hub. Since opening its doors on January 20, 2024, Geaux Create Studios has ignited a movement, empowering hundreds of creatives to step boldly into their purpose, sharpen their craft, and reclaim their creative identity.
We understand what it’s like to be a creative with no roadmap, constantly told to “be realistic,” to “tone it down,” or to “play it safe.” In Baton Rouge, many artists and innovators have felt overlooked, under-resourced, or pushed to believe there’s nothing here for them. But we’ve seen something different: a city full of raw, untapped brilliance, creative diamonds waiting to be unearthed and celebrated. And that’s exactly why the Geaux Create Awards was born.
The First Award Show: A Night That Made History
The inaugural Geaux Create Awards took place on October 20, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA. What began as a bold experiment quickly became a historic moment for the Capital City. The event shattered expectations, bringing together Baton Rouge’s most talented creatives, entrepreneurs, and innovators for a night of recognition, reflection, and real impact.
But the celebration didn’t stop there.
As a result of this transformative evening, October 20th was officially proclaimed “Geaux Create Day” in the city of Baton Rouge. Since that day, we’ve gone on to present awards inside City Hall, formally recognize local creatives on government platforms, and elevate creative excellence to a civic priority.
What Makes This Awards Show Different?
This isn’t a popularity contest. It’s a movement.
Every nominee is judged by a panel of over 20 creatives based on three transparent categories:
1. Innovation: Are they doing something truly original?
2. Impact: Who are they reaching, inspiring, or changing?
3. Execution: How well are they bringing their vision to life?
Whether you have 100 followers or 1 million, your work speaks for itself. We celebrate the doers, the makers, and the disruptors who keep creating even when no one is watching.

After the success of our first awards show, it became clear. This isn’t just a Baton Rouge story. It’s a Louisiana story. So in 2025, we’re going statewide.
We’re bringing Louisiana’s creativity to the Capital City, making Baton Rouge the home for creatives from every corner of the state. From Shreveport to New Orleans, Lake Charles to Monroe, this is your platform.
This fall, the 2025 Geaux Create Awards returns to Baton Rouge with a bigger vision, broader reach, and even greater purpose. We’re ready to recognize the brightest creative talent in Louisiana and set a new statewide standard for what it means to honor innovation.
